Lugnano in Teverina
Located in a beautiful setting, Lugnano in Teverina is without a doubt one of the most attractive centers of the zone. Risen in the early Middle Ages around a mighty castle, bastion against barbaric and Saracen invasions, the very well-kept town presents itself as a medieval jewel that is still little-known. It is home, however, to some interesting monuments, among which the Palombara Tower, the 16th-century Palazzo Ridolfi-Farnese (today municipal headquarters), and most of all the splendid Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta stand out; the Collegiate Church is one of the most important Romanesque churches in Umbria.
